I had mine redrilled by a local metal shop craftsman. He obviously had to make a new pintle as well but the whole thing cost me about $150.

When installing an inspection port (or deck plate as some call them), what size (diameter) port do you recommend? Any particular model/brand you prefer? Then, where do you locate the "cut-out" (for the port) on the floor. I assume you must be able to reach both the upper and lower gudgeon nuts. Finally (and this is for J/80 #179 made in 1997), it appears the lower gudgeon has worn badly enough to need replacement (while the upper seems ok). The pin seems notably worn too, but more so at the lower than the upper. The pintles seem okay. Does this sound like somewhat "normal" wear to those of you who have had wear-problems?
