entered a phrf series in spin class just for fun as I had no crew. I have a tiller autopilot which I could not use, but have a spare tiller extension. The pin fits in the pin hole for the autopilot and I drilled out a hole near the handle end to mount on the tiller pin. I used this just for spin hoist and douse. I finished one race without any foulups and had a great time, even though I finished near the bottom after time correction.
My prerace criteria for success were 1. good start; 2.sail the correct course; 3. handle the spinnaker without grief; 4. finish the race anywhere but last place.
The idea for the tiller extension was from a friend, so I cannot take credit.

I've seen a few people sail a J-80 with the sheet rigged to steer the boat. Can someone explain how to set this up? I'd like to try this on my other boat in case the auto pilot goes out.
