Ok here goes. Today we launched our J80 for the first time. We didn't remove the plug in the thru hull fitting and replace it with the speed transducer. Is it safe to attempt to unscrew and pull the plug, re-install the speed spinner while the boat is in the water? I don't want to spend another $175 to pull it out, but there is a really slow leak in the top of the plug so one way or another I have to get that transducer in there. Thanks in advance for any help.

Did it on a Cape Dory 25 for years with no problem. In the switch expect about a 1/2 gallon of water. No pressure getting the new Speedo in.

Did it this morning. Don't even think I got a cup of water in the boat so I was worried for nothing. Thanks for the reply.
