Hi! I'm new to the site as well as J/80 sailing. Just purchased my boat last month.

The boat's trailer did not come equipped with a keel guide and I was wondering if anyone on the form would have some recommendations or considerations for its design/manufacture. Also I've heard that J/80's are somewhat difficult to trailer launch and retrieve. I'm pretty accustom to performing these activities with a J/24 or similar keel boat. Is there reason to believe that the J/80 will be more difficult to deal with in this regard?

Thanks!

Donald,
E-mail me off-line and I can get you some info on keel guides. Are you in fresh water? J-80 is no more difficult to ramp launch than a J-24, aside from the trailer having to be deeper in the water prior to floating off. Hope you have a long ramp!
Instant Karma used to be my neighbor here in Houston. Where is she now?

All. I just bought a J/80 and need to pick her up some distance away, and am concerned about the trailering weight. I have a triad trailer. Does anyone know the weight of this trailer? How about the combination of the trailer and the boat?

Any info would be most appreciated!!

Call Mike at Triad Trailers 919 782 6007, he should have the data you need. I always assume about 500 lbs for the trailer so that would make towing weight about 3800 lbs. Good luck with your new boat. I got mine last year and it was an excellent idea. I've had a ton of fun with the boat.
