I see from the classifieds in Sailing Anarchy that Chris M. upgraded his mainsheet system. So what did you do? I picked up a complete two speed 3:1/6:1 system at the Toronto Boat Show. But the way it is set up, it will not run from the fixed swivel, it will be all on the traveller. Has anyone tried similar arrangements? I am afraid that trimming in light conditions will be a problem as the traveller pulls up every time you try to trim the sheet. Anyone have any thoughts?

That system will not work well in light air. I tried something similar on my J-24 years ago. The system I am using is shown here:

when I bought my boat it had the 3:1/6:1 system with no fixed swivel. All on the traveler. Liked it in anything but heavy air. Very difficult to release the sheet with the traveler down in heavy air. I changed back to the standard J80 system for safety about 2005, works great except at the medium air bottom mark!!
