California Yacht Club is pleased to host the J80 Class for their North American Championship this July 30th through August 3rd. Sailing conditions in Marina del Rey at this time of year are ideal for a championship event, with a 10 to 15 knot breeze typically filling in by noon under warm and sunny skies.

Come sail on the same waters where many championship regattas have been sailed, including the Star Worlds, the Laser Radial Worlds, the J105 North Americans, the J24 North Americans and the Schock 35 Nationals. Experience the dedication of a race management team that has been awarded US Sailing’s prestigious St. Petersburg Trophy three times in the past decade.

A full calendar of events has been planned:
Wednesday, July 30 Measurement & Weigh-In by appointment
Class start in CYC Wednesday Night Sunset Race
Thursday, July 31 Measurement & Weigh-In by appointment
Skippers’ Meeting; Practice Race
Friday, August 1 Championship Racing
Post-Race Social Event
Saturday, August 2 Championship Racing
Post-Race Banquet
Sunday, August 3 Championship Race
Trophy Presentation

Regarding the above post of crew available for MDR N/As, We will only be available on Friday of that weekend...family issues intervened on our plans to race the 3 days...

We can go together or on seperate boats. And we would most likely be available for Thursday eve. practice.

Are you kidding- there are only 15 boats registered for the NA's. What has happened to this fleet? Perhaps Cali was not the best choice for venue??

Those of you who chose not to attend this event really missed out. The venue was wonderful, and the RC work and hospitality were second to none.

I second that. Check this out.. Beer and home made chips and guacamole delivered dockside post race. GREAT yacht club food! Cal Yacht Club really rolled out the carpet. Any news on 2009 venues?
