Just got crushed in a phrf race held in about 5kts with about 2/3 of course directly downwind.Used 150 genoa. This was a solo race so no spinnakers allowed.
Did o.k on upwind legs, but tried to tack downwind as opposed to running wing & wing (like everyone else). Lost lots of ground.
Any suggestions for next time, except to find a race course with reaching legs ?

It's hard to sail in PHRF aginst sym boats try not to set up below other boats or just stay on top of the boats if your are below them you will need to sail about 15 to 20 boat lenghts low of them.

We've managed to hold our own against J-29s, SR21, Chrysler 27s, and others sailing wing & wing with 12 foot adjustable whisker pole holding clew as high as looks good .... in very light air (1-5). Someone hold the boom out and down and keep weight forward.
