I just rec'd the original cabin top winches for Sting. I've heard they are a crew eater, but trimming the jib further up is said to remove some of the clutter. Anyone care to comment on the pros and cons before I install?

We use the port cabin top to adjust jib halyard tension while underway. Tried unsuccessfully ( for about two tacks!) to run the jib sheets to them in the past. I think J-105's use the cabin top for the jib in some circumstances. Might work well on an '80. The starboard cabin top is dead weight.
