What is the best solution for intrusion of water at the sprit. Has someone come up with the no water solution?

There are several "homebuilt" solutions out there, most of which involve mounting a ring-shaped gasket of neoprene or similar material to the end of the sprit housing. It can be held in place by screws, plates, or fiberglass covers. Where are you located?

I followed your tip and here is how it worked. I applied two gaskets, and rotated one vs the other then applied Kite tape around the gaskets, the intrusion stopped. Later, testing at 15.5 knts and choppy seas I would say we pressurized the fittings and the repair gets two thumbs up!
