I have a 3.5 hp that I use as a backup. My son and I are going to cruise the RI, MA, NY and CT coast next summer for a couple of weeks. I'd like something a little more powerful for dealing with some of the strong currents in our area. I do NOT have a motor mount. Has anyone tried the new Tohatsu 6 hp? Think I should go with the 25" inch shaft (my 20" comes out of the water a bit in a sea)? Will a motor this big (4 stroke) get in the way of my tiller? Any other engine recommendations 5hp and up? Thank you!

My vote is for the Tohatsu 5hp Ultra long 2 stroke. 27 inch transom height, 5 Ah of charging power as an option and large fuel reserve. The catch is finding one....

How bad does it vibrate? Or does it have 2 cylinders?
